Internationally renowned Burns Sisters and Binghamton natives, return to the Southern Tier this Sunday, December 20th, playing a 2pm Christmas show at 6 On The Square in Oxford.  Mixing traditions old and new, this special holiday show brings together all ages in the joy and wonders of the season.

Singing all traditions of holiday music, the Sisters include favorite songs that while not considered “holiday”, reflect their hopes for this season. Harmonizing with a heartfelt spirit, Marie plays rhythm mandolin, and also guitar. She loves the old-time sounds of early country and bluegrass. Annie sings high or low harmony, depending upon the song. She writes prolifically, and loves to belt out a rock ballad. The Sisters will be accompanied by a band of talented musicians.

Growing up in Binghamton in a large family of twelve children, Marie and Annie’s family all sang together. Their father, the late John Burns, had an impressive career in politics, which developed a family culture that believed in standing up for the rights of all people. They still walk their talk and bring their beliefs, values, and ideals into their music. As performers, Marie and Annie have played alongside many musical legends and starred on several big stages with many great folk legends, including Arlo Guthrie, Tom Paxton, Jimmy LaFave, Janis Ian, Chris Thile, Folk Uke, and even the Boston Pops.

Spend an afternoon unwinding from holiday stress, listening to music of the season sung in sweet harmonies and melodies as only the Burns Sisters can do!
