Reuters is reporting The Bon-Ton Stores may be going out of business after only liquidators showed an interest in the company at a court-supervised auction. The company filed for bankruptcy in February.

The Bon-Ton store remains one of the largest retailers operating at the Oakdale Mall. Last year, Macy's and Sears shut down their operations at the shopping center.

The Bon-Ton's parent company, which has corporate offices in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, operates more than 250 stores under several nameplates.

It's unclear how soon the Bon-Ton stores could close. Once a winning bidder is selected in the auction, the proposed deal would have to be approved by a federal bankruptcy court in Delaware.
