The Binghamton Zoo Welcomes Three Geoffroy’s Marmosets

There are so many exciting new things happening at the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park. If you haven't heard, they now have Nature Play stations where the kids can play outside in a safe, secure atmosphere, read all about it here.

But that's not all, the zoo is happy to announce the arrival of three Geoffroy's marmosets from the Trevor Zoo in Millbrook, New York. They come to the Binghamton Zoo on a breeding recommendation from the AZA's Geffroy's Marmoset Species Survival Plan.

The population is declining because of the loss of their natural habitat and the Binghamton Zoo is doing what they can to help these primates.

Clark is seven years old, Maxine is six years and Finn is six months old and they come to the zoo in hopes of growing their family group and are staying at the Wonders of Nature building.

Geffroy's marmosets usually give birth to twins but they could have up to four babies. The father will carry the babies for the first week...I'm sure glad that human father's don't do that. After that, everyone in the family helps and they live to be about 10 years old.

So stop on by and see Clark, Maxine and Finn at America's 5th oldest zoo at 60 Morgan Road in Binghamton. The admission booth is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. everyday with the zoo closing at 5 p.m.
