This is the weekend for 18 cycling races that will bring over 1000 athletes to the Southern Tier and it looks like perfect weekend weather in Binghamton.  In fact, downtown Binghamton will look more like a speedway as kickstands are up for the 32nd Annual Chris Thater Memorial Races beginning Saturday morning.

If you are planning to visit downtown, give yourself some extra time as center city and a number of side streets will be blocked off for the thousands of participants and spectators that cheer on the bikers.  Parking is free in downtown Binghamton parking ramps.

First up on Saturday morning will be the Patrolman Lee Barta Challenge at 10, followed by the first of 18 cycling events at 10:30am.  Additional Saturday highlights include the USA Cycling National Criterium Calendar pro races at 8pm on a lighted course in the center of downtown Binghamton.

Sunday’s events include the Chris Thater Memorial 5K Run beginning at 9:50 AM and the Kids Run at 10:45 AM plus the Women’s Pro/1/2/3 and Men’s Pro/1/2 to conclude the weekend.
