Target To Pay $4.6 Million Because of a Needle In Their Lot

In May of 2014, a woman in South Carolina observed her 8 year old daughter handling a used hypodermic needle someone had left in the parking lot of the Target they were visiting. The woman, who's name is Carla, swatted the needle out of her daughters hand. Problem is, she stabbed herself with it in the process.

She freaked out and called 911. The ambulance took her to the hospital where she was immediately put on Anti-HIV / Hepatitis medication. Now... either it worked, or the person who'd used the needle before was clean, because Carla hasn't contracted any diseases. But she did sue Target when they wouldn't cover her medical bills. She offered to settle for $12,000, they counter offered with $750, so she took them to court.  Last Thursday, a jury awarded her $4.6 Million. Target has stated that they are going to appeal.
