SUNY Broome’s Center for Civic Engagement will hold a “citizens’ voice” event on Tuesday, March 24, from 7 to 9pm in the Baldwin Gymnasium.  The purpose of the event is to give citizens an opportunity to offer their ideas for projects that the Southern Tier Economic Development Council might include in their final application of the upstate $500 million competition to promote economic development.

An audio record will be made of each citizen’s suggestion.  Citizens are also encouraged to bring a hard copy of their project proposal to the event.  If a citizen cannot make this event but wishes to send to the college an idea they have, the proposal can be sent to Lisa Strahley, coordinator for Civic Engagement, at strahleysa@sunybroome.edu.  Email proposals should be titled, “500 Million Dollar Project Proposal” and received no later than Wednesday, March 25.

Binghamton Mayor Rich David and Broome County Legislator Jason Garnar will make brief opening remarks about both the importance of the competition and the need to hear citizens’ ideas to help enhance the Southern Tier’s application.
