If you've been living in the Southern Tier for any length of time, you know summers can be either hot, cool or wet in the Northeast.  With the mild winter and cold spring, everyone seems to be wondering what summer 2016 may look like in Binghamton.

Ben Schott from NOAA at the National Weather Service office at the Binghamton Airport gives us a good look ahead beginning with the Memorial Day weekend, looking good for the entire Northeast, including the beaches of New Jersey and Delaware for those looking to get away from the Southern Tier of New York.   High pressure looks to build in with summer like temps in the lower 80s across the Twin Tiers, a very small chance for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm each day. Slightly cooler, but sunny at the beaches with highs in the mid to upper 70s.
According to Ben at NOAA, "the set up for this summer(June/July/August) shows at least a 50% chance of above normal temperatures across much of the Northeast, and greater than 80% chance of temperatures normal to above normal."  If you like your summers cool you have less than 20% chance of being a happy camper!
There is not much of an signal to tell about the amount of rainfall through the summer but the current set up of weather patterns and sea surface temperatures across the Northern Hemisphere show a slightly better chance for a wetter than normal summer across the Adirondacks/ Hudson Valley area into Maine and Massachusetts.
Summer is off to a good start so whatever you decide to do, enjoy every minute of it.
