Stats About Work That Are Pretty Horrible

So... Here's five stats from a survey about our work, and they are royally depressing. But!!! There is one really important piece of advice at the end, so keep your ears on! Monster.com polled 1,500 people about work, careers, raises, and retirement.

Look at This:

1. One in four of us will never be promoted.

2. One out of ten people haven't been promoted in the last ten years.

3. 29% of people had to change professions because they felt stuck in a rut.

4. One in 12 people quit their job because they thought their industry was dying, that's 8% of us.

5. One 20 people straight up hate their career.

What does make us enjoy a job? The two big things that came shining through are: Feeling like you matter to the company and viewing your coworkers as friends.

Now here's that piece of advice we mentioned. 22% of people who are retired had this to say to young people in the work force: You can change that depressing stuff by asking for a raise or a promotion. If you think you've earned it, that is.
