Authorities say the trooper and other law enforcement officers had been sent to 10041 Welch Road following a 911 call reporting a suicidal man had barricaded himself in the home.

Investigators say Clark was shot and killed. They say the body of the man who is believed to have fired the shot, 43-year-old Steven Kiley, was found inside the residence. He apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Trooper Clark graduated from the New York State Police Academy. He initially was assigned to Sidney-based Troop C, working out of the Ithaca station. He later was assigned to the Auburn barracks of Troop E before starting his current assignment working out of Bath.

Trooper Clark, who lived in Troupsburg, is survived by his mother, father and brother.

State police say the incident remains under investigation. An autopsy was to be performed at Lourdes Hospital.

Officials say Kiley was the principal of Bradford Central School in Steuben County.
