This weekend  is the Special Hockey Festival and participants will be coming from all along the East Coast and Canada and what a weekend it'll be. The Ice House Hawks (Broome County’s Only Special Hockey Team) and the Binghamton Devils will be the hosts for this second annual event at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena.

Nearly 600 visitors are expected to be here for this very special weekend with 262 on ice participants and 282 family members. There will be Sled Hockey games, off ice trainings and breakout sessions with UHS Sports Medicine and Molly Morgan, the NHL nutritionist for the Ottawa Senators.

It all begins on Friday night with a sensory friendly silent disco, an on-concourse game day Carnival! and more. All activities are fully accessible and sensory safe for everyone to enjoy.

The American Special Hockey Association is committed to responsively meeting the needs of individuals with a developmental disability and for their families to participate in the sport of hockey.

Free admission to all Special and Sled Hockey Games on Saturday, January 19th and Sunday January 20th with a Special Hockey Night with the Binghamton Devils on Saturday evening.

It concludes on Monday with a Sled Hockey Exhibition featuring Warrior Athletes and Paralympic athletes. The games are free to the public and everyone is welcome to come and Try Sled hockey with the Open Ice Session beginning at 1 p.m.
