Southern Tier Weekend Happenings

Another weekend in the Southern Tier means some great events happening inside and outside.  Here are my weekend picks:

1)  The World's Largest Yard Sale - 9am-3pm at the Broome County Fairgrounds in Whitney Point.  With over 150 vendors expected on the fairgrounds field, who knows what a shopper will find.

2)  Binghamton Baseball -  Our Eastern League Champions' Binghamton Mets play a couple of matinee games this weekend, playing the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Saturday at 1:05pm and Sunday at 1:05pm.

3)  Endangered Species Day - The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park highlights the Amur leopard Kalinika and focus on the dangers these cats face in the wild.  You can catch this from 10am-4pm at the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park this Saturday.

4)  "Pinocchio" - a great introduction to opera with this Tri-Cities production of the classic tale of a wooden boy growing up with life lessons.  Saturday shows are at 11am and 2pm at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage, 48 Willow Street in Johnson City.

5)  Squawking Parrot Mini Golf Tournament - this Saturday 10am tourney benefits the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier with prizes for best costumes, goodie bags and food.  Chucksters at 1915 Vestal Parkway West in Vestal.

6)  Veterans' Walk and 5K Run - Sunday at the Hillcrest American Legion at 363 West Service Road in Binghamton.
