The candles shone bright yesterday at All Saints Church in Johnson City in remembrance of fallen police officers of the Southern Tier and no doubt hit especially close to home due to the recent loss of Johnson City Police Officer David Smith.

This week is Southern Tier Police Memorial Week and the week started off yesterday with a non denominational church service and continues through Saturday with several activities. According to the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Memorial Association Facebook page, these are the other events scheduled for this week:

Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:45AM there will be a silent procession of local Law Enforcement vehicles starting at Binghamton University and traveling to the Police Memorial Service being held at Binghamton City Hall at 11:00AM. Binghamton Mayor Rich David will be speaking.

Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 9:00AM (doors open at 8:30AM) - Police Memorial Breakfast - at Owego Treadway Inn - Tickets can be purchased by sending us a message.

Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 9:00AM - Memorial Golf Tournament - at The Links at Hiawatha Landing. Limited team spots available.

Friday-Saturday, May 9-10, 2014 - Police Displays and Demonstrations at the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City.
