With the success of the Emmy nominated Bible series on The History Channel, making it one of cable TV's most watched mini series of all-time, with an average of 15 million people tuning in weekly, it's only natural that Hollywood takes notice and produces a full fledged motion picture for the big screen.

'Son of God' will be released by 21st Century Fox nationwide in February 28th, the first big screen, big budget, religious epic in many many years.

According to the press release, the film "brings the story of Jesus' life to audiences through compelling cinematic storytelling that is both powerful and inspirational. Told with the scope and scale of an action epic, the film features powerful performances, exotic locales, dazzling visual effects and a rich orchestral scores."

Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado portrays the role of Jesus as the film spans from his humble birth through his teachings, crucifixion and ultimate resurrection.  The husband-wife duo Tim Burnett and Roma Downey ('Touched By An Angel') of the Bible series are also anchor of this big screen film.
