Well now that your Thanksgiving flying has come and gone, the TSA has good news for those who are taking Christmas presents to your next destination.

You can now carry snow globes onto the plane.  If you were worried about putting your snow globe into your suitcase because it was just too valuable, now you don't have to worry.  However it still needs to contain less that 3.4 ounces of water and needs to be able to fit in a quart-sized baggie.  The TSA is also allowing pies and cakes but the food might need further inspection before boarding onto the plane.  As I've said before, the last thing I want from a TSA agent is for them to check my pie after doing a full body search on the person in front of me.  Maybe it's a taste test they would do.  It would give a whole new meaning to "your food is the bomb."

Finally if you absolutely, positively must wrap your present ahead of time, the TSA is discouraging you from bringing it on the plane with you.  They are warning flyers that they might need to unwrap and inspect the package. I'll give you one more piece of advice when taking presents with you, on board or in your suitcase.  Make sure it doesn't have wires.  I was bringing home a picture in a frame with a wire on the back for hanging.  I couldn't figure out why all of a sudden the TSA wanted to go through all my stuff in an urgent manner. I think from now on, I'll stick to snow globes or better yet,  I'll get them gift certificates and let them get their own.
