Are you excited about Black Friday this year?  Black Friday where people go absolutely bonkers shopping the big box stores for an off brand TV that they received 90% off, that often times will only work 190 days.  Another words, it can be a waste of your hard earned money.

Then there's Cyber Monday. That's the day your inbox is filled with "special coupon" deals that offer free shipping if you spend more than you first intended to spend. Another words, it's not that great of a deal, other than you saved some gas money.

My favorite day to shop is Small Business Saturday, the little brother to the two bigger bros.  By contrast, Small Business Saturday encourages holiday shoppers to patronize brick and mortar businesses that are small and local.  We all know someone who owns or works at a small business.  Without them, our community would be in trouble.

Where do you go for hardware, dining, pies, produce, candy, picture framing and clothing? There are many fine local options off the crazy parkway in cities, towns and villages throughout our area.  And I promise, if you shop these local stores, you will enjoy a stress free shopping experience and often times, a better quality product.

I'm proud to say I support local businesses.  I hope you will too this shopping season.

So when you're out there getting those bargains this weekend, do all of us a favor and check out Small Business Saturday.  Don't over look the small and local businesses that keep our community alive and well.
