If you're like me, you're thinking skiing and hitting the slopes.  The good news is there's a lot of snow predicted for the months ahead.  All indicators say that the 2012-2013 season season should be a good one.  So if you never hit a mountain last season, there should be plenty of opportunity this ski season.

In checking around today, I find that all the major resorts around Binghamton are making snow.  And a few will be opening this weekend.

The popular Greek Peak Ski Resort in Virgil, New York is making snow for Iliad and Alpha, as well as the Magic Carpet, and the Tubing Center.  They are expecting to open Saturday December 1st.  Please check their web site for any updates.

Labrador Mountain, outside of Syracuse is currently making snow but have not announced an official opening day as of this writing.

Elk Mountain in Union Dale, Pennsylvania will be making snow and has a tentative December opening.

If you don't mind the drive, Big Boulder Ski Area is the first mountain to open in Pennsylvania, as they open their Freedom Park terrain park.  Gig Boulder opened today, November 28th.  Again, please check their web site link for conditions and operating hours.

Here's to a happy, safe and healthy ski season.  This may be the Winter area skiers have been waiting for.  Fingers crossed.
