What's always been great about country music, even going way back, it's all the influences that make up an artist or song.  Take the band Shotgun Wedding for example.  First of all, you have to love the name.  Second, when you hear their music, I think you will love them too.

Shotgun Wedding is playing the Center For The Arts in Homer, New York this Friday (October 8) at 8pm and do they ever have musical influences.  When I listened to them, I heard a little bit of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Chris Stapleton, Asleep At The Wheel and Zac Brown Band.  They list their influences as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, AC/DC, Speckled Red and even Karen Carpenter.  Their sound is country, Americana , alt-country with a little rock n' roll.  Whatever you want to call Shotgun Wedding, it's always good-time fun and good music.

Shotgun Wedding is made up of Billy Joel's rhythm section: Andy Cichon on bass/vocals; and Chuck Burgi on drums; Billy's former tour guitarist Dennis DelGaudio, vocalist Catherine Porter, and Wade Preston--who played Billy in "Movin' Out" on Broadway for several years--on keyboards/vocals.

With a resume like that combines with great musicianship and tight harmonies, Shotgun Wedding needs to be heard.  Click HERE to find out more about tickets and other shows playing at the Center For The Arts in nearby Homer.  Also check out some of their music below, beginning with their highly acclaimed 'City Boy' video.
