Brett Eldredge is hot on the charts right now with his self-penned hit "Mean To Me."  Brett is destined to become a superstar.  This weekend, we have him as our in- studio co-host on our popular "CMT Country Countdown USA" with Lon Helton Sunday night 7-10pm on 98.1 The Hawk!

All of us at the Hawk are big fans of Brett Eldredge.  Traci Taylor from the Hawk Morning Show one day sat me down to really listen to the lyrics of his songs and it really hit me how talented this man is and how lucky country music is to have Brett in the mix of bro-country artists. His sound is a stand out!

Back in November, Brett Eldredge was named CMA New Artist of the Year.  Brett told Lon he just received the trophy! "When I won, they give you the award, and then they take it away from you.  In fact, I thought I'd lost it that night!  But I just got my CMA Award.  Now I've got it and so I know I didn't lose it."

Where is the award sitting now? "I'm actually house-hunting, so I'm looking for that perfect spot, I need to find a cool fireplace or something.  It's just chillin' in the box right now."

Brett Eldredge has established a pattern of doing crazy things when his songs go to #1.  When "Don't Ya" topped the charts, Brett jumped out of an airplane.  Last summer, when "Beat of the Music" became his second #1, Brett swam with sharks.  This week, Lon spoke with him about this.

So the question is what will Brett do if "Mean To Me" goes #1?  "I've got a couple ideas, but there's one I'm fascinated by called 'Dinner In The Sky.'  It's where you hang from a crane 300 feet in the air.  You invite some friends, and you're strapped in your chair, and your feet are dangling, and you eat a five course meal hanging in the air.  I'm hoping they have a lot of booze up there!"

Brett was one of several artists who performed at the Super Bowl in Phoenix this year: "I played the Bud Light pre-game tailgate party.  It was a trip!  We played a fun show, and then I got to watch the game, we had great tickets, and it was a great game, a great halftime show, and the interception happened right in front of us.  I'm a Bears fan, so I didn't have a dog in the fight, so I just wanted to see a great game, and we did!"

Brett also has great stories this week about Blake Shelton, Darius Rucker, Little Big Town, Keith Urban, and Florida Georgia Line.
