Scotty McCreery has plans to release new music in the near future.

“We’re getting ready with new music,” the singer tells Nash Country Daily. “I just signed on with new management and we’re close to getting new music out. The Idol contract is a really fun one to work out. We’re like one signature away from being free. A lot of the songs are already done, so we’re getting them back. We’re close."

"By January or February, we should have a new single out," McCreery reveals.

New music on the horizon isn't the only exciting venture the singer has under his wing. He released his first book, Go Big or Go Home, in May of 2016 with a supporting book tour that visited several states across the country. He also left his music label, Mercury Nashville, earlier in the year.

McCreery most recent single was "Southern Belle," released in the summer of 2015. His last studio album was 2013's See You Tonight, with both the title track and follow up single, "Feelin' It," breaking the Top 10 on Billboard's US Country Airplay chart.

The 23-year-old singer recently made an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry as a supporting act on Martina McBride's Band Against Cancer Tour, completing its multi-show run at the famed Nashville venue.
