If you're in downtown Binghamton Saturday morning (October 8) around 11:00 a.m., you may see a parade across from Little Venice on Chenango Street.

The parade is in honor of Broome County resident Sergeant Lawrence Peters, who was awarded the Medal of Honor following his death September 4, 1967.  If you take the time to read the plaque in his honor, you will learn much more about Sergeant Peters and how he honorably served the United States of America.

The parade will start at the Chenango Street location in downtown Binghamton to Exchange Street and on to South Side Veterans Park where the monument will be moved from it's current location on Chenango Street to its new home on Conklin Avenue.

Members of the military will be part of the relocation ceremony and parade in honor of Sergeant Lawrence Peters.  This is a great opportunity for families to come together and learn about more of the history of the Binghamton area and the sacrifices the military have made to make our community stronger.  Come out and show your support for this great man Saturday morning.
