I remember when I was a little girl that the church across the street from my school turned their fellowship hall into a Christmas wonderland and that our teacher took us to shop for trinkets for our family. And I still remember what I bought, even though I was only six or so years old. That's how magical the experience was.

Your kids have an opportunity to the same type of magical experience that I did as the  Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Oxford is transformed into 'Santa's Secret Shoppe' this Saturday, December 5th from 9am-12pm. While this is mostly for a chance for kids to shop, there will be fun for adults as well.

The Brisben Doers will be helping out the volunteers from St. Joseph's Church, the United Methodist Church, and the United Church of Oxford for Santa's Secret Shoppe. There will even be elves on hand to show the little ones all the treasures they can buy, assist them with their selections and also with gift wrapping.

If you plan to bring your kids, please have them write out a list of people they plan to buy for and provide them with some money. Everything for the kids to buy will cost between 25 cents and $2, but you'll want to show up early before all the bargains are scooped up.

The selection of items changes from year to year, but in past years, kids have been able to buy books and dolls, jewelry, potholders and mugs, vases, puzzles, purses and more. All items are organized into different areas to make shopping easier for the little ones.

While your kids are shopping, you'll be shown to the Grown-Up's Room where you can buy things such as embroidered pieces, holiday decorations and assorted hand-knit and crocheted items.
