If this doesn't warm the cockles of your heart, it's possible that nothing will. Santa Claus has won the North Pole City Council election.

Meet a 68-year-old resident of North Pole, Alaska who is anything but your average man. This man grew out his beard and legally changed his name to Santa Claus and then to top it off, he added himself as a write-in candidate for a seat on the city council. And he actually won.

Mr. Claus, a Christian monk (and former emergency services chaplain, actor and university lecturer) who moved to the small town in Alaska two years ago received 58 votes, which was enough to win. After the results were announced, Mr. Claus told ABC News, "I’m happy I’m here. It’s a great community and I’m looking forward to serving it."

Mr. Claus says that he looks forward to solving the town's budget problems and, as a cancer patient who uses medical marijuana, hopes to open medical marijuana dispensaries around the town.
