Just like Coca-Cola, Sam Hunt is the real deal. According to a new USA Today article, Sam even has family ties to an early owner of Coke’s original formula!Sam says, “It was a relative of ours, a long way down the line.” Family lore claims the formula was eventually sold.

Sam's interesting history doesn't end there though. Sam was a college football quarterback at both Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After college he was briefly signed as a free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Sam is also a big time songwriter and has written for some of the biggest names in country music. Sam co-wrote Kenny Chesney's 2012 single "Come Over." He also wrote two singles released in 2014: Keith Urban's "Cop Car" and Billy Currington's "We Are Tonight".

Sam’s debut album Montevallo hits stores next Tuesday and the collection includes Sam’s breakout single “Leave the Night On” and his version of Keith Urban’s “Cop Car.”
