Ryan Clark is a Johnson City graduate who was picked by the Atlanta Braves in the fifth round of the Major League Baseball draft on Tuesday.

Clark was the 150th Major League Baseball draft pick overall and told the Press and Sun that before he was selected, he received a call from a Braves scout asking if he'd sign if they picked him with their next pick. Of course, Clark said yes. Clark told WBNG that he plans to sign with the Braves and is excited to live out his dream.

Clark just finished his third season at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he was a second-team All-Southern Conference selection this spring. He started 15 games, going 7-6 with a 4.06 ERA.

Before joining the team at UNCG, Clark was part of the Johnson City varsity baseball team, playing with them for five seasons after being brought up as an eight grader.
