Wow, I can't believe it but August is here already. That means the Great New York State Fair is almost here too. It's just weeks away. It runs from August 25th to September 5th.

If you're a bicyclist, did you know that you can ride your bike to the Fair? Take in the beauty of the surrounding area. It's called "Ride For $5 Day" and it's on Wednesday, August 31st.

Here's how it works. It's a group ride and you'll see the Onondaga County's trail along Onondaga Lake and end up at the Fair.

It starts at the Salt Museum at Onondaga Lake at 9:30am. You travel along the western shore of Onondaga Lake. You'll ride through the Lakeview Amphitheater concert venue and end up at the new Main Gate of the Fair.

The ride is free. You must wear a helmet and sign a waiver to participate. The discount admission price is available to anyone riding a bike on the 31st, even if you don't do the group ride for that day.

If you worried about your bike then worry no longer. Your bike will be checked in a secure parking area with staff on hand. Here's some more good news. Free light adjustments and lubes for bikes will be available.

Anyone can do the ride, even novice riders or families with youngsters riding their own bikes. It's a great way to start your day, see some scenic sights and a day at the Fair.

It'll be a memory that your family can enjoy together and remember forever.
