Today on Facebook I observed a friend's post that asked a question we all have asked ourselves time and time again. My friend says:

'How do you truly know you are in love with someone??'

I answered as quickly as I could. I know what it feels like because I was there once. I remember it like it was yesterday. This is what I wrote:

Suddenly, you feel like you're about two hundred feet tall when you're with them. Every aspect of your life seems enriched with brightness and color. Every breath you take is amazing. Every song on the radio somehow relates to you and your partner. You start noticing everything around you, birds, how beautiful the trees are, how wonderful the rain feels on your face. You feel whole like you've never felt before. Then suddenly you automatically start thinking of ways to incorporate them in your everyday life. You just know that that's the person that you want next to you for the rest of your life. You don't know why you know, but you know that you do. You get to a point where you don't just know that person and know their mannerisms but you feel that person. It doesn't matter how far away they are you can feel them. That's how you know.

I believe this with all my heart. I still feel it to this day. Now, the one question I still haven't seen anyone try to answer, and it includes the message I have for the person who posted it, is: What do you do when that person that makes you feel that way doesn't feel that way at all? What do you do when your love isn't enough?

You do the best you can do, and hope for the best.

That's what you do.
