R-e-m-l-i-k's is K-i-l-m-e-r spelled backwards.  The magnificent Kilmer Building is the setting for one of downtown Binghamton's finest restaurants.  If you have not been to Remlik's Grille & Oyster Bar, Fall Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity to take in a special dinner that you will not soon forget. Prepare yourself for fine dining in a relaxed casual, relaxed atmosphere.

When you enter Remlik's, plan to be in awe of the classic architecture, subdued lighting and a menu that makes it tough to just pick out just one item for your entree.  Remlik's has a very comfortable bar for your favorite cocktails on special, a fine selection of bottled or tap beers including all the popular micro brews you love and one of the best wine lists in town.  Remlik's lounge has a nice food menu, in eyes' distance of the raw bar, which is spectacular in it's own right. They have some of the largest prawns I have ever seen.

Naomi is obviously one of their star servers.  I found Naomi to be very sincere from the time she introduced herself to the time she wished us a good evening.  When I go to Remlik's, I always like to sit and reminisce over the amazing architecture and what it must have been like in the Kilmer Building was producing Swamp Root and other known products made here from Binghamton's bygone days.  Naomi gave us plenty of chat time and always kept our water glass filled.  It's always the little things that impress me.  Naomi was outstanding.

The food is a culinary work of art. Anthony Yannuzzi is the head chef and took the time to introduce himself.  Very well known and respected in the Greater Binghamton area, Anthony is the best.  The secret to any fine restaurant is a good chef and Anthony has been pleasing Remlik's loyal customers for some time now, always making the menu new and exciting with tastes and flavors from around the world.

I felt like going Italian on this outing and I thoroughly enjoyed the freshness with my first course of Bruschetta. The garlic was perfect and not overpowering, balanced nicely with fresh tomatoes and garden basil.  Totally tasty.  My guest raved about the spicy tuna appetizer.

Remlik's Grill and Oyster Bar is not only known for its' fresh seafood but also some of the best steaks in town.  My friend's prime sirloin was prepared with mushroom burgundy sauce, whipped potatoes and fresh vegetables.  He said it melted in his mouth and would defiantly order this again.

Returning to Italy, I believe I had the best chicken Parmesan this side of Sicily.  The cutlet was topped with just the right amount of cheese and something I would never expect, fresh ricotta. Wow! Was that good with the homemade marinara sauce and a side of penne pasta.

Chef Anthony put a lot of thought in to the restaurant week dessert menu.  My crispy cream puff covered in fresh chocolate and cream was out of this world, not too sweet and very well balanced in flavor.  If you love fresh berries, don't miss the fresh berry tart. Third course at Remlik's can be a tough decision as everything sounds fantastic.

My thanks to the fine staff at Remlik's and happy 5th Anniversary to one of Binghamton's finest.  A perfect evening made more special by a great relaxed atmosphere, attentive and welcoming staff and some of the best and creative cuisine in Binghamton.  I can't wait to return to Remlik's Grille & Oyster Bar with more friends.
