Red Kettle Kick-Off Campaign With The Salvation Army
It’s been around for over 125 years. My family become involved last year. This year, I am honored that they have invited me to be a part of their kick-off campaign. It’s the Red Kettle Kick-Off celebration and it begins today (11/7) at the Salvation Army, 131 Washington Street in Binghamton.
The Salvation Army Red Kettles have represented the Christmas season and compassion to those in need around the world since 1890.
I’ll be the emcee, as we ring the first bells of Christmas. The Red Kettle Campaign has had a positive impact on our community. I can also say that it’s had a positive effect with our family.
Last year, we participated in the “Ringing” of the bells at the Oakdale Mall. Since it was inside, we had to wave ping pong paddles that said “Ding” and “Dong” on them.
I know Tara got a kick out of it and I enjoyed it too. We can’t wait to do it again this year. I also hope that you’ll be able to help as well.
Visions Federal Credit Union will kick off the donations with a check to the Salvation Army. Mayor David Rich, County Executive Deb Preston and Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo will be there as well as Rumble Ponies reps, United Way and others.
It’s a chance to sign up to join me and my family and Ring The Bell. You can choose an Angel Tree Tag and buy a Red Kettle Season pass. Refreshments will be available and facility tours will be offered.
Do want to sign up to Ring The Bell but can’t make it this morning? Great news, go here to sign up right now. I’m truly honored to help with the First drop in the bucket and I hope to see you this afternoon.
