The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and donor generosity. In other words, when things go terribly wrong, the American Red Cross is there to help.

In addition to providing help due to disaster, the American Red Cross also offers community services that help the needy; communications services and comfort for military members and their family members; collection, processing and distribution of blood and blood products; educational programs on preparedness, health, and safety; and international relief and development programs.

So much of what the American Red Cross does in our community is made possible by community donations and if you’re a running, this is a perfect opportunity for you to run and to give back to an organization that has done so much for people here in the Southern Tier.

On Sunday, November 2nd, the American Red Cross and the Early Career Development Program will host their first ever Red Cross 5K- Run for the Red.

The race will kick off at 10am Sunday November 2nd at the North Pavilion in Otsiningo Park. The cost to race is $20 with event t-shirts available for an additional $5 to the first 60 participants. All proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross. You can pre-register for the run here.

If you're not a runner, but would like to contribute to the mission of the American Red Cross in the Southern Tier, you can do that here.
