It only took 132 years but this holiday may have finally made it. How do we know? How about when they run a movie marathon in honor of the day!  For years, we've been able to watch "A Christmas Story" all day on Christmas Day.

That's what has happened to Groundhog Day., now we can enjoy "Groundhog Day" on POP beginning at 11 a.m.

This year, Groundhog Day falls on Saturday and it looks like the temperatures will finally be reasonable. We had single digit weather with wind chills well below zero. Saturday will be right around the freezing point.

So that's a few reasons to celebrate Groundhog Day but here are some others:

Unlike the Easter bunny, it stays outside.

If a rodent can bring us a early spring, who am I to argue.

Phil's forecast is more reliable then many weather forecasters...except Howard Manges.

It's a holiday that's over early.

If you've ever gone to Gobbler's Knob, you'll enjoy music and fire barrels beginning at midnight. At 7:30 a.m. Phil tells the Inner Circle if Spring is coming and that's it. Time to get off the hill.

If you've never gone to Gobbler's Knob for Groundhog Day, you should. Go early and stay at a Bed and Breakfast. If you can't make it to Punxsutawney to see Phil, this is what it's like.

Take Rt. 17 and get off exit 66 in Apalachin and drive to Warren Center, Pa. Find Rick Beers farm and go and stand in one of his fields and look for a woodchuck. It's the exact same thing.

It's the most underappreciated holiday going but at least this year it's on the weekend.
