Do you ever wonder what it would be like if you were told that you were living on borrowed time? Dick Giblin of Binghamton doesn't wonder. He is. Giblin is fighting for his life as doctors have told him a double-lung transplant is critical to his survival.

If you didn't know, the average double-lung transplant comes with a $800,000 price tag and that's just the tip of the iceberg. While Giblin has insurance, he still faces monumental expenses related to his transplant. For the rest of his life, Giblin will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. The post care is just as critical for Giblin's survival as the transplants are.

After receiving his double-lung transplant, Giblin will have to temporarily move 350 miles from Binghamton to be near the hospital during recovery. With this temporary housing transplant comes expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Because he's so sick, Giblin is unable to work.

To help offset Giblin's medical costs, volunteers as well as members of the National Foundation for Transplants are planning a "Raising Cash for the 'Stache" fundraising benefit on Saturday, January 30th.

The fundraiser will be help at the Binghamton Knights of Columbus Council 206 Hall at 136 Park Avenue from 2pm-6pm. Tickets are $15 and include refreshments and music. Additionally, there will be a 50/50 raffle and gift basket raffle.

If you'd like to learn more about participating in "Raising Cash for the 'Stache,' reach out to Bob Giblin at 607-761-8523. And, if you can't make the fundraiser, but would like to make a tax-deductible donation to Giblin, you can can do that through the NFT New York Transplant Fund.
