The Sunoco Race of Champions Modified 200 is the 2nd oldest consecutively held auto racing event in the US.  It's 2nd only to the Indianapolis 500.

5 Mile Point Speedway owner Andrew Harpell is also the owner of this event and has brought the race to the Southern Tier of New York for the first time ever.

This year marks the 65th consecutive running of the event and after a 20 plus year stay at the Oswego Speedway, it's moved to the Chemung Speedrome in Chemung this Saturday and Sunday.

Chemung native and 1986 Daytona 500 winner, Geoff Bodine will serve as Grand Marshal on Sunday for the RoC Modified 200 event.

He won 18 times on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit. He grew up around the Chemung Speedrome and his grandfather Eli Bodine built the race track.

Racing on Saturday begins at 6pm and features a 125 lap event for the Sportsman.  Candor driver Jimmy Zacharias is the NASCAR Track and New York State Champion in that class.

On Sunday racing gets underway at 2pm with the Sunoco Race of Champions Modified 200 taking center stage. Chuck Hossfeld from Ransomville, New York is the defending race winner.
