It's the 138th running of the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. It'll be on NBC 5 with pre-race at 4:30 and the running of the race around 6:35.

Orb will be starting from the post.  I've heard that it's been 4 decades since a horse won the Preakness from the post.  The up side is that their are only 9 horses in the race. That's the lowest horse count in years as well. Orb is even money going into the day and is the odds on favorite to win. Rick Pitino- owned Goldencents is another favorite and is going from the 2nd spot.

With so much time before the race, you'll need something to quench your thirst till post time.  The Kentucky Derby the drink of choice is the Mint Julep.  For the Preakness, it's The Black-Eyed Susan.  I've found 2 different recipes.

According to the official Preakness website. It's 2 Part Bourbon, 1 Part Vodka Cirtus, 3 Part Sweet & Sour mix and 1 Part Orange Juice.  Fill a highball glass with shaved ice add ingredients. Garnish with Orange and Maraschino cherry.

Another is: 1 part Cointreau, 1 part Mount Gay rum, 1part Vodka, Pineapple Juice and Orange Juice.  Fill a highball glass with shaved ice, add the liquors first, then top off with equal parts of orange and pineapple juice. Stir and garnish with a lime wedge.

Enjoy the race and the drinks.  In the modified words of the Lone Ranger " Hi-yo, Orb! Away!"
