Most people already think of Mother Teresa as a saint, but she is officially on her way to becoming one.

Official canonization requires approval from the Pope, in which he has to certify that an attributed miracle must occur after his or her death. And according to an Italian media report, Pope Francis has done that.

So what was the miracle? A Brazilian man who suffered from multiple tumors was healed after he and his loved ones prayed to Mother Teresa to heal him. The tumors are gone, inexplicably cured.

In another miraculous healing, a 30-year-old woman said she was cured of a stomach tumor after praying to Mother Teresa. A Vatican committee said they simply couldn't find a scientific reason this woman was healed, and declared it a miracle.

Mother Teresa dedicated her life to working with the poorest of the poor in India. She died in 1997 and was beatified, the first step to becoming a saint, in 2003.

Italian media says that Mother Teresa's canonization ceremony is expected to take place in September of 2016 to coincide with the anniversary of her death.
