I don't know about you, but it feels to me that every day I'm getting slapped in the face with awful news. I think it's time we take a minute to recognize the good in the world instead of focusing solely on the negative.

For all of the terrible news we hear about police officers, I thought I'd balance it out and share with you the story of two officers who went out of their way to show compassion to a woman who really needed a break.

Deputies Jeff Dunkin and Michael Long were helping Ashley Kilgore, a mom of two, install car seats in her car when they noticed that her tires were bald and not safe at all.

The officers could have written Ashley a ticket, but after they pointed the problem out to her, Ashley explained that she just couldn't afford to buy new tires.

Instead of opening their ticket pad, the officers opened their hearts and their wallets.

Dunkin and Long bought Ashley four used tires, but after the owner of the tire shop heard about what the officers were doing, he upgraded her to brand-new tires.
