Interior construction work is underway on two of the wings of the MacArthur Elementary School being built on Binghamton's South Side.

Karry Mullins, Binghamton City School District assistant superintendent for administration, says a significant amount of progress has been made on the project in recent weeks.

Two snow storms slowed some exterior work. Crews now are able to work inside the two wings which now are enclosed and heated.

Mullins said a "substantial completion date" of November 16 of next year remains a target. It's not known when students and teachers will be able to move in to the new building. MacArthur classes have been held at two temporary sites since the 2011 flood wrecked the original school structure.

WNBF News toured the site this week. Take a look at our photo gallery.
