Halloween was yesterday, so naturally, it's time to talk about Thanksgiving. You're just lucky we're not skipping right past it to focus on Christmas or Martin Luther King Day. It was August and I spotted Christmas displays in a couple of stores. I love Christmas. Like really, really love it, but can’t we get through one holiday at a time?

According to AllRecipes.com, about a month out from Thanksgiving is when people start making their Thanksgiving meal plans. I’ll say this- I’m already thankful that we’re going to my in-laws for Thanksgiving because the only food concerns I have are whether my mother-in-law will make her delicious cheesy veggie casserole and whether she’ll make some Stove Top for me and my husband. Yes, we’re the odd ones out who prefer stuffing from a box and not homemade.

It’s so nice not to have to plan, shop and cook this year. But, if you are hosting, there’s a good chance you might be planning to make a new side dish this Thanksgiving. in the AllRecipes poll, 825 of people said that’s the plan for them, while only 15% of people responsible for making the turkey will even dare to break away from the tradition meal. By the way, 66% of people say they'll make at least one dish from scratch this year.

What are some of the challenges people are already bracing for this year? Those hosting the meal say their biggest challenge is having all the dishes ready at the same time. No matter how perfectly planned out dinner is, all the meals being ready and warm at the same time never seems to happen. The second challenge is finding room in the fridge for leftovers and the third is finding time to shop, cook, and clean.

Oh, and back to the whole stuffing thing, maybe my husband and I aren’t as odd as our families have led us to believe. The survey by AllRecipes found that only 27% of people prefer stuffing when it's cooked inside the turkey.
