The bidders on the losing end of the awarding of casino licenses in New York State  are getting a little bit of their one million dollar filing fee back.

13 casino proposals were left behind by the state last year.

State documents indicate that about 60% of the $13 million that was paid by those losing bids for filing their applications has been returned.  Tioga Downs in Nichols has been refunded $602,000 while Traditions at the Glen in the Town of Union got back over $607,000 of its investment.

Meanwhile, Tioga Downs is poised to take another shot at casino development with the State Gaming Commission voting to possibly award a fourth license, designated for the Southern Tier Region to a winning proposal.

While City of Binghamton officials say they have talked to some people interested in the idea of working up a proposal for Broome County, Tioga Downs remains the only facility that has officially expressed interest in bidding for the license.
