Open Skate to Benefit Toys For Tots
My kids love to go ice skating. When the Binghamton Devils release their promotional schedule, they ask me what the dates are for the post-game skates and we mark it on the calendar. As of right now, they aren’t having one this season….bummer.
So this year, we may have to take a trip down 81 South to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. On Thursday, December 7th, it’s the 14th Annual Toys for Tots Open Skate at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
Anyone bringing a new, unwrapped toy or making a $5.00 contribution to Toys for Tots can skate. The Open Skate runs from 6 pm to 8 pm. Free snacks will be available and light refreshments can be purchased with partial proceeds going to Toys for Tots.
This is the only time throughout the year that the public is allowed to skate on the ice at Mohegan Sun Arena which is the home of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. You must have your own skates and Mohegan Sun Arena will not have skates on site for rent.
If you want to go on the ice, you must be wearing skates. On the ice, the Penguins are our hated rival but off the ice, it’s worth the drive to help out the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.
