For pretty much ever, professors have stood in front of crowds of students in an effort to teach them. It’s just how it’s been done. Until now.

The Internet could replace professors and it could happen in our lifetime.

Here are some reasons those in favor say that the Internet is actually better than professors:

  • The cost of college is expensive, but the Internet is free– You can learn anything you want by just conducting intelligent Internet searches. No expensive textbooks. No giant libraries. Just you, your laptop, and a coffee shop with wifi.
  • You control the pace– When you’re being lectured to, you can’t slow it down or speed it up. You’re sort of held hostage by whoever is rambling on in front of you. The Internet allows you to control the flow and pace of the information.
  • No anxiety – Lecture halls create question anxiety. The Internet isn’t a person. It won’t judge you. So ask away, even if you think the questions you’re asking are dumb.
