A major demolition project is getting underway at the Binghamton Johnson City Joint Sewage Treatment Plant.

Broome County officials say due to that work, Old Vestal Road will be restricted to ten foot lanes for both east and west bound traffic from Murray Hill Road to about 400 feet to the west.

The demolition is expected to last about 30 days and is part of a $100-million renovation project at plant.

County officials say the traffic shift on Old Vestal Road will not cause any disruption in BC Transit service or other businesses on the road that runs parallel to the Vestal Parkway.
