The NY State Fair will be here before you know it. They are looking for your help in designing a State Fair float and creating 2 new mascots.

The committee wants to add to the daily parade and is seeking your help as it designs a State Fair float to serve as the centerpiece.  Designs and ideas for the float are being solicited by the committee, which is being headed up by a member of the State Fair Advisory Board, Rockette Brunetti.

Rockette said "The parade is one of the signature events of the Great New York State Fair.  We want to make a great event even greater, with more music, more participation from the community, and a fabulous float to serve as the parade's anchor."

They would like the sketches by April 1st. If you help create the winning sketch, you'll get recognition during the parade along with admission to the Fair and parking passes.  Submissions can be sent to nysfair.entry@gmail.com.  More information about the requirements for submissions can be found at www.nysfair.org/contact-us/parade/.

The Fair is also creating two brand new mascots.  The mascots will participate in the daily parade and also tour the Fairgrounds during the day and interact with Fairgoers and pose for photos.

The mascots' identities have not yet been announced, but will be visual representations of the Fair's main mission of promoting agriculture. The float and mascots, when complete, will also be available to march in community parades and appear at public and community events.

The heart of the 6:00 p.m. parade around Chevy Court is the sound of marching bands. The Fair is reaching out to more school and community marching groups to increase participation.  An application and information for groups interested in marching in the parade can be found at www.nysfair.org/contact-us/entertainment-application/.

The NY State Fair goes from August 21st to September 1st. The theme of the Fair is "Summer's Best in Show." As they say: "Make a Great Event Even Greater." Go here to check out everything that's going on at this year's NY State Fair.
