The temple building was demolished last October, several months after a section of its roof collapsed under the weight of snow and ice.

Temple Israel services have been shifted to the nearby Jewish Community Center until the new building is ready for use.

Temple Israel launched a capital campaign with a goal of $600,000 to finance the construction of the new facility.

According to the temple website, pledges to the fundraising effort reached $335,000 this month.

Temple Israel representatives have declined to comment on the building project.

Temple officials earlier had indicated they hope the new facility can be put into operation next spring.

A source has indicated efforts are being made to schedule a fundraising event for the capital campaign. The event is expected to feature a well-known comedian.
