Residents near Binghamton's Columbus Park won't have to travel far to enjoy a little water-themed fun this summer. Thanks to a $15,000 donation, and a hefty grant from the Community Development Block Grant funds, the make-shift water playground will be a legitimate one just in time for the end of the school year. Fun wasn't the chief reason for the repairs though, the monument lacked a chlorine filter, which posed a health risk to children.
