The County is getting $145,000 every year for the next five years for in-jail programs that focus on helping inmates make better decisions.

The County was awarded the funding after being designated as one that incarcerates a higher percentage of its residents than the rest of the state.

Around 80 inmates are expected to take part in the program annually with the hope of cutting down on the recidivism rate.  In order to be able to participate, inmates have to be in jail for at least four months.

The program takes about 12 weeks.
