If you’re a Verizon customer, you might want to be careful because several police departments are the country are warning about a new phishing scam that involves a fake Verizon email.

Phishing is when a scammer tries to get personal information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details by pretending to be a company and they send out emails trying to get info from customers.

Several emails have been sent to Verizon customers saying that the company wasn’t able to charge the customer’s credit card and asks that the customer click on a link to update their credit card information.

This is not legitimate and if you got an email like this and followed the link and gave out your credit card info, you should check your credit card account for unauthorized use and cancel your card.

If you’ve become a victim of the scam and have had unauthorized charges placed on your credit card, you should call your local police department.
