The Johnson City Police Department announced a 5K run/walk in memory of Patrolman David D.W. Smith Jr., who was shot and killed after responding to a disturbance call last year in Johnson City. The 5K remembrance run/walk will take place April 12th in Johnson City.

Net proceeds will benefit the D.W. Smith Memorial Fund which will cover the expenses of "C.O.P.S" retreats as well as participation of the Smith family in National Police Week in Washington, D.C.

Registration is now open thru March 19th:  $20 for adults and $10 for children 17 and under.  After April 10th, the fee goes up to $35 for adults and $15 for children.

After the race/walk, participants are invited to CFJ Park for music, food, facepainting and a JCPD K9 demonstration.
