Neighbors Helping Neighbors: Sandy Relief Efforts in Binghamton
It wasn’t too long ago that many of our neighbors here in the Southern Tier were devastated by flooding and people from all over New York (among other states) came to our rescue with food and clothing and so much more. Now it’s time to return the favor.
Several area Fire Departments have joined together to collect supplies and donations for downstate New York relief efforts. For the next two weekends (November 11th-11th and 17th-18th), donations are being accepted from 9am-5pm at the following Fire Departments:
- Apalachin Fire Station on Pennsylvania Avenue
- Endwell Fire Station on Country Club Road
The fire stations on Madison Avenue in Endicott and on Harry L Drive in Johnson City will also be accepting items every day.
Items that are most needed include:
- Cleaning products
- Paper products
- Blankets and pillows
- Bottled water
- Baby needs
- Personal hygiene products
- Pet food
- Non-perishable food
- Contractor bags,
- Rubber gloves
Checks can also be made payable to VFD Relief Fund, and should be mailed to:
135 Brown Road-Vestal, NY 13850
Many of the people who were hit by this devastating storm have come to our assistance in the past so please help as Twin Tiers comes to the aid of our neighbors in downstate New York!
