Growing up in Binghamton all my life, I sure have a lot of great memories in the snow.  While we may not be getting a big snowfall this time, it makes me reminisce about the days when I would hear my favorite radio DJ announce that "Catholic Schools of Broome County are closed."  That was music to my ears when I was growing up.

I lived on the West side of Binghamton.  A dozen of my aunts, uncles, grandmas and cousins  lived walking distance to my house.  If I couldn't hang out with my friends, my cousins always seemed like an excellent backup plan.  Winters would always bring much more snow to the Southern Tier, or so it seemed.

I have great memories of building giant igloos on the side of my house, with just a brick wall holding it up.  Somewhere I have a photo.  I would stock up on candy and snacks in hopes of my Mom and Dad allowing me to stay out there overnight.  Little did I understand that I would need more than a flashlight to keep me warm.

A cold January day in the Winter of 19-something would usually include a game of big foot tag, where the tag game could only be played by stepping in each others' footprints.  Another fun game was called ice cube scavenger hunt where we would freeze ice cubes in different colors and then hide the cubes in the snow.  Fun times.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to return to those simple days of your childhood?  Today, many parents I know life those bygone days though the spirit of their kids.  So what were your favorite games in the snow?  Feel free to share in words and photos.
