One thing I enjoy about working in downtown Binghamton is how they celebrate art.  I love the creative new bike racks by Rebecca Austin that grace the city streets and monthly "First Friday" Art Walks. This weekend, you're invited to come celebrate Mural Fest in the heart of downtown Binghamton.

Now if you've visited downtown Binghamton over the past year, you may have noticed quite a few murals in, on and around buildings, including the Water Street Parking Garage.

The Murals are about to get very interesting when 31 artists take part in Mural Fest this Sunday from noon to 6 pm on the Riverwalk down the Doctor Martin Luther King Promenade.  In addition, there will be 7 bands, a sculpture garden and a number of vendors and people of our community.

Some of these murals celebrate life and others make a statement.  Artists are also planning movable murals on boards that can be installed at abandoned buildings at requested locations and later moved to other properties.

Mural Fest organizers say they plan to show off a painted car, mosaics and spray painting art during the festival.
